N9WP's On-line Scanner Archive Notes
NOTE: 12/07/2008 - The feed is back on the air, apparently my internet provider switched IP address's on me this past weekend. NOTE 12/04/2008 - My BCD796d scanner may be used for the feed this coming weekend instead of my BCD996t. NOTE: 11/28/2008 - Thanks everyone for answering this past weeks poll, the results are displayed below. I will have a new poll up soon. Poll results for week of 11/22/08:
Poll results for week of 11/15/08:
NOTE: 11/20/2008 - My BCD796 scanner will be used for the feed for part of this weekend (11/21/2008 - 11/23/2008) NOTE: 11/12/2008 - I have added a poll to the scanner feed webpage...These will help me gather info on what you listen to and ways to better improve this site and the feed. I'll have a different question every week or 2. I will post the results when the poll is done. I am also working on a survey page. NOTE: 11/08/2008 - I have updated the firmware on the BCD996t scanner that is used for the feed from version 1.04.12 to version 3.01.00. NOTE: 10/02/2008 - Uniden has a new firmware out for the 396t and 996t scanners. Update 10/09/2008 I updated my 396t handheld scanners firmware which is not used for the feed. I've written up a firmware comparison which can be found HERE. NOTE: 11/06/2008 - It appears my scanner got unplugged probably by one of the cats. I will be able to check it out at noon. Update: The feed is running again. NOTE: 10/17/2008 - It appears that my audio only feed is down, I will take a look at that tonight. Update: The Audio only feed is back up and running. It appears that the computer got unplugged, I'm going to blame it on one of the cats, you can decide! NOTE: 10/08/2008 - Barack Obama will be in Indianapolis today for a rally. Listen for traffic on the Mutual Aid and State Police talkgroups. NOTE: 10/02/2008 - Over 2,200 visitors to this page in the month of September. Thanks everyone for stopping by... NOTE: 9/26/08 - Instead of taking the feed down this weekend, my Uniden bcd796 scanner may be providing the feed occasionally. NOTE: 9/23/08 - Clinton county sheriff is back on their VHF frequency. If I find out any more info, I'll pass it along. NOTE: 8/29/08 - Clinton county sheriff has moved to the SAFE-T system and if it works well for them, they will be staying on SAFE-T. Very little traffic is heard on their VHF frequency right now but I will continue to provide the VHF frequency and the SAFE-T talkgroups for Clinton county in my feed, Frankfort is still using their old VHF system. NOTE: 9/10/08 - The feed may be down Friday night (9/12/08) and Sunday night (9/14/08) for a few hours. I might put my BCD796 on for the feed during that time. NOTE: 9/10/08 - Boone county firefighters seem to be training, you will hear the training traffic on the fireground 4 channel. NOTE: 9/10/08 - Fun Facts: For the month of August, I had more then 1,500 unique visitors to this webpage. Thanks so much for stopping by!!! Not the record though, in June of 2008 I had over 2,000 unique visitors to this page. NOTE: 9/02/08 - Conditions are good this morning, it sounds like one of the Chicago PD frequencies is booming in strong on the Crawfordsville PD frequency. Enjoy while it lasts, there's a ton of activity up there. I also updated my usd files to program the Uniden 396 and 996 scanners. NOTE: 8/29/08 - The scanner feed will be down tonight (8/29/08) and will not be back up until Sunday (8/31/08). It will also probably be down Monday (9/01/08) evening for a few hours. NOTE: 8/5/2008 Storms seem to have shut off the video scanner feed, I will try to get it going later today when I come home from work. The audio only feed is still running so use that until the other is back up. NOTE: 7/30/2008 The scanner feed will be down Friday night (8/1/2008). Since the Brickyard race is over now, when I bring the feed back on-line Saturday morning, the scanner will be scanning what it was before. Indianapolis Metro and Speedway PD will be removed from the feed until the next great even. NOTE: 7/24/2008 I've added Indianapolis NW Metro and Speedway Police to the scanner feed for the upcoming Brickyard 400 race this weekend. Clinton County has been removed while Indianapolis is scanned. The Uniden BCD996t scanner is using a Wilson 800mhz yagi antenna to provide you with Indianapolis Metro PD. State Police that are working the race are on the ISP 52 ops channels. Enjoy! NOTE 7/02/2008 - The scanner feed will be down for a couple hours tonight. NOTE 6/29/2008 - The scanner feed is back to normal and my BCD996t is providing the feed once again. Thanks during your patients the last 2 weeks. NOTE 6/23/2008 - I have put my BCD796 scanner online for the feed so the feed is back up and running. My BCD996t will be back online after I've completely recovered from my surgery. It is sitting next to me in the bedroom. Sorry the feed has been down so long... NOTE 6/18/2008 - The scanner feed has been down since Saturday. N9WP intended to take the feed down only for a couple hours but during that time, he had a gallbladder attach and was hospitalized to have it removed. He is recovering and was just released from the hospital today but the feed will be down until he is able to bring it up himself. Probably in the next week or two. Thanks for understanding. NOTE 6/07/2008 - Good News, the feed won't be going down for good. Lebanon Utilities (my internet provider) decided to keep the high speed wireless service. More info can be found HERE in this Lebanon Reporter Newspaper article. NOTE 6/07/2008 - I replaced my old RG-8 coax with new LMR-400 coax. It greatly improved reception of many things but also brought in interference to the scanner so I had to lower the antenna around 5 feet. So some things may come in better and some things may not. Note 6/07/2008 - During severe weather (We've seen a lot in the last week or so) I have turned on the main ham radio skywarn 2 meter repeater out of Indianapolis. I've had a lot of requests for it so when I can, I will add it to the feed when severe weather is approaching. I'm also a trained weather spotter and ham radio operator so I check into the local severe weather net here in Boone county when I can. NOTE 6/07/2008 - I replaced my old RG-8 coax with new LMR-400 coax. It greatly improved reception of many things but also brought in interference to the scanner so I had to lower the antenna around 5 feet. So some things may come in better and some things may not. I have noticed that when it rains, 800mhz reception goes down but VHF reception stays the same, I'm not sure if this is water getting into the coax or not so I may be re-doing the ends on the coax again. For those technical folks out there, I soder my connectors on, and don't crimp them. I also weather proof the connector by wrapping it in special tape, so it's hard to tell what's going on, maybe it's just the wet trees. UPDATE 6/8/2008, I fixed the problem, water was getting in to the top of the connector because the antenna was a little loose. Problem should be fixed now. NOTE 5/31/2008 - The feed is currently down because I am replacing my old RG8 Coax with LMR-400 Coax and testing. The feed should be running again Sunday night. NOTE 5/29/2008 - The feed may be going down for good this summer if something doesn't take place. An article in the Lebanon Reporter states that Lebanon Utilities will stop offering internet service possibly in July. I use their wireless internet service. I live a couple miles out of Lebanon and DSL and Cable for internet is not an option. Here's a link to the article: HERE. I will diffenetly keep you posted as I need the high speed connections for the feed and also to do work from home. NOTE 5/27/2008 - The feed is back to scanning just Boone county, Hendricks county and Clinton county here in central Indiana. Listening to Indianapolis NW Metro PD, Speedway PD and the Indianapolis special event channels during the Indy 500 week was great, I'm looking forward to Brickyard, I hope you all enjoyed it too. NOTE 5/23/2008 - The feed will be down Monday night (5/26/2008). NOTE 5/23/2008 - The feed is now scanning everything it normally does with Indianapolis North West Metro PD and Speedway PD/Fire added for the Indy 500 this weekend. On Sunday, Hendricks county and Clinton County will not be scanned due to all the traffic from the race. Everything will go back to normal Monday. I am to far from the track to have the drivers in the feed. NOTE 5/01/2008 - Former President Clinton will be in Lebanon Friday evening at the Lebanon Middle School Gym. There may be some interesting communications on the scanner!!! UPDATE: It was interesting listening to the motorcade and all the radio traffic during his visit, hope everyone else enjoyed it too. NOTE 4/23/2008 - I may have the NEW MECA-1 system in the feed to get everything ready for when Indianapolis makes the switch to that system in a few weeks and also to get my usd files updated. You may hear "mayday" but that is them testing different situations in buildings in Indianapolis. NOTE 4/11/2008 - Uniden has released a new firmare version for both the BCD396 and BCD996 scanners. I probably won't apply that update for a little while but when I do, expect the feed to be down for a few days while I test. UPDATE: I still haven't updated, I will post on the main page when I do. NOTE 4/30/2008 - The free service (streamwebtown)I use for the video feed is down, I will post when it is running again. The audio only feed should be running fine. NOTE 4/11/2008 - The scanner feed will be down tonight and Sunday night. (from about 6pm to 11pm) NOTE 4/4/2008 - The scanner feed will be down tonight and Sunday night. (from about 6pm to 11pm) NOTE 4/1/2008 - I may take Hendricks county out of the feed for a day or 2 to add the new MECA-2 system in Indy to help with identifying new talk group ID's. If you ID any of them, please let me know. Thanks. NOTE 3/17/2008 - Lots of rain is coming to Indiana over the next few days, I've added the Clinton Co SAFE-T tower to the feed since there are several counties along the Wabash river broadcasted on that tower. White Co, Carroll Co, etc. NOTE 3/13/2008 - Barach Obama (Presidential candidate) will be in Plainfield, IN for a town hall meeting on Saturday (3/15/08). Be sure to listen since the feed covers Hendricks county. NOTE 3/13/2008 - The feed will be down Friday evening and Sunday evening (the 14th and 16th). NOTE 3/6/08 - Another winter storm might be coming our way for Friday and this weekend. Lets see if they get this one right too, listen in and see. We are suppost to get mostly snow out of this one. NOTE 3/3/08 - Another winter storm might be coming our way. Lets see if they get this one right, listen in and see. We are suppost to have rain changing to freezing rain, sleet and then snow. WOW, they got this one right. NOTE 2/29/08 - The feed will be down tonight from just shortly after 5pm until possibly tomorrow morning. NOTE: 2/25/2008 - Another possible snow storm is knocking on the door for tomorrow. Be sure to listen in! NOTE 2/14/08 - The video feed is up and running again...Woooo Hooo. NOTE 2/8/08 - The video feed service I use is down again. I have no idea when it will be running again. For now you will have to just use the audio only feed. NOTE 2/7/08 - The video feed seems to be up and running again. The service I use for the video feed came up this afternoon. I cannot guarantee it will be stable but for now it is working. NOTE 2/6/08 - The video feed is still currently down. I use a free streaming service for the video feed and I am unable to connect to that service at this time (www.streamwebtown.com). A more reliable video stream service would cost me 20.00 to 30.00 bucks a month which I do not have, thus I use the free service and am at their mercy. As soon as I am able to stream through streamwebtown, you will be able to get the video feed again. Until then, enjoy the audio only feed. NOTE 2/5/08 - The video feed is currently down. We took a very close lightning strike last night, the transformer next to our house got hit around 4am. I didn't have time to get everything back up and going when the power was restored but plan to later today. The Audio feed is up and running. NOTE 1/31/08 - Most of Indiana is under a winter storm warning for tonight and tomorrow. Be sure to listen in. UPDATE 2/1/08 - Yeah, forcasters were wrong, we got maybe a half inch of slush. Way to go guys!!! Where's the 8-10 inches of snow? Anyway, the scanner feed may be down tonight and also Sunday night. NOTE 1/29/08 - I've added the Clinton Co SAFE-T system to the stream since it covers some northern counties. There is a winter storm warning for northern Indiana tonight. NOTE - 01/15/2008 - The internet feed will be down this weekend on Saturday the 19th and Sunday the 20th. NOTE - 01/14/2008 - My internet connection was down today. My internet providers web sites were down as well, so they must have been having problems. NOTE: 12/31/2007 - Happy New Year!!! I've added the Indiana State Police out of Lafayette and Clinton counties SAFE-T system due to a winter storm tonight. Lebanon is under a snow advisory and predicted to get a few inches of snow but north of Lafayette there is a winter storm warning. I've taken Indy's NW Metro PD out for now. Clinton county is usually scanned because they are still on VHF. I normally don't scan their SAFE-T system but it does cover some counties up north like White, Carroll, and Cass counties. Should be an interesting night to stay in, listen in and be safe while bringing in 2008. NOTE: 12/28/2007 - I've added Indianapolis North West Metro Police from MECA-1 temporarily. I'm going to see just how much traffic there is and how much it takes away from Boone county transmissions.. NOTE: 12/24/2007 - Merry Christmas to all!!! The feed may be down the evening of December 26th and possibly off and on this week. NOTE: 12/12/2007 - Possible snow storm coming into the area this weekend, be sure to listen!!! NOTE: 12/04/2007 - I've added the link to the video alpha tag display to the left side. It is not as stable as the audio only feed so if the video feed is down, try the audio only feed. I will be running both feeds. Please remember that the video feed is 60kbs so a dedicated high speed internet connection will be needed. NOTE: 12/07/2007 - The scanner feed could be down Saturday (12/08/2007) during the day but will be back on-line in the evening. NOTE: 12/04/2007 - The first snow of the season will start late tonight...Listen in, I'll bet there will be some traffic related action. NOTE: 11/18/2007 - I'm still working on the feed that will provide alpha tags. To take a sneak peak, click on this link - Apha display stream. It is not up 100 percent of the time and is still unrealiable. I will be running both the audio only feed and the alpha tag feed at the same time. If you don't connect to the alpha tag stream, it is probably down, try again later and just enjoy the audio only stream (link on the left). Also, the alpha tag stream runs at around 60k bits a second so a dedicated high speed internet connection is needed. Enjoy, I hope to have it 100 percent by Christmas still. NOTE: 11/18/2007 - The feed will be down Wednesday evening (11/21/07) and also on Sunday (11/25/07). NOTE: 11/13/2007 - Seems my internet connection has been very flaky the last couple days, especially from noon on. I apologize if you are unable to stay connected to the scanner stream. The problem has been resolved. On another note, DX (long distant stations) have been really coming in strong on the scanner today, possibly due to the approaching cold front. NOTE: 11/2/2007 - New changes are coming to the scanner feed. The scanner feed will be moving off the old computer that runs it currently and I will be trying to get the feed to display the alpha tags and frequencies it lands on. Expect interuptions to the feed in the next couple weeks. I will also be moving the feed off of shoutcast and will be using Windows Media Player running the media encoder and capturing video at the same time. I'll update things here as progress moves along. I hope to have everything set up and done before the Christmas holiday... NOTE: 8/22/2007 - I'm still collecting talk group ID's from other areas. I have added Indiana Millitary Air to the feed, so any traffic you may hear from the air bands, should be millitary. DX has been very good for the past week or so. Stations are booming in from all over. Another note is Hendricks county sheriff, Avon PD, Plainfield PD and Danville PD are now completely on the SAFE-T system along with Hendricks county EMS and Fire. Brownsburg PD and Fire haven't made the switch yet. NOTE: 8/5/2007 - The scanner feed may be down in the evenings and on the weekends. It may also be scanning other systems as I verify frequencies and talk group ID's for the next couple weeks. (Example, you may hear Tipton Co, Clay Co, etc...Distant stations, possibly weak) NOTE: 9/6/2007 - On this day, from about noon on, the scanner will be scanning Indianapolis Downtown Metro Pd (MECA-1) along with the RCA dome security and maintenance (MECA-2) for the NFL Colts kick-off game and pre-game activities. The scanner will go back to scanning Boone Co, Hendricks Co, Clinton Co, and the State PD either late that night after the game is over or early the next morning. Enjoy!!! NOTE: 7/31/2007 - The scanner feed will be down tonight starting around 5pm, it should be back up in the morning or as soon as I can get it back up and running. NOTE: 5/08/2007 - The scanner is currently scanning the Indianapolis NW Metro PD and Speedway PD/Fire because of the races in Indianapolis. It is still scanning the Boone Co SAFET system but Hendricks Co, the Hendricks Co SAFET system, Clinton Co, and the Indiana State PD (Lafayette post & Putnamville Post) have been removed for now and so has other surrounding counties. The scanner is currently using my Wilson 800mhz yagi antenna so VHF frequencies may be alittle weak. I am almost exactly 20 miles from the track so I am unable to receive the race car radios. After the big races, the scanner will go back to scanning Boone Co, Hendricks Co, and Clinton Co not unless I get a flood of emails asking me to keep NW Indianapolis Metro PD. NOTE: 7/23/07 - The scanner feed will be down tonight and should be back up and running tomorrow. NOTE: 7/09/07 - The scanner feed is back up and running after being down for a week. NOTE: 6/26/07 - The scanner feed will be down starting 6/28/07. It will probably be down for a week or so as I do some upgrading and repairs to the pc that runs the feed. NOTE: 5/15/2007 - Feed was down for a couple hours because of power going out. Strong gusty winds but not much else weather. NOTE: 5/10/2007 - Over the next several days, you will hear a lot of traffic from Indiana's Mutual Aid talk groups. They are performing an excersise and more information about it can be found HERE. NOTE: 4/15/2007 FEED DOWN TIME - My BC396t handheld scanner went in for repairs. Seems it has lost half the signals due to a bad connection inside the unit. Because of this, the scanner feed may be down often for the next month, especially on nights and weekends since I won't have my 396 with me, the 996 will get thrown in the truck instead of providing the feed. Repairs usually take a month or so. I usually listen to my own feed at work during the day so it will be up during the day through out the week.
NOTE 4/3/2007 - My Internet connection for the feed was down this afternoon, my internet provider was doing maintenance...Perfect timing with the storms huh? The IP address changed again for the link so I have updated the links again but this time using no-ip.com so you won't have to update your bookmarks after this time.
