Hello there, my name is Brian and my ham radio call sign is N9WP. My location or QTH is in
central Indiana just North West of Indianapolis. You can usually find me on the 147.105 PL=77mhz N9HLL
repeater in Lebanon, Indiana or on 146.500 simplex frequency. If I'm not there, I'm chasing down
DX on the HF bands. I also love listening to the police scanner and you can find one of mine on-line HERE.
My station consists of a Kenwood TS-570DG HF rig with a Heil Goldline microphone with a foot
switch. Broadcasting barefoot at 100 watts into a Hustler 6-btv HF vertical antenna, a Radio Works Carolina Windom 80, or into a G5RV HF
wire dipole antenna. I use a Rigblaster plus for the digital modes with a homebuilt PC. For 2 meters
I have a Icom V8000 and a Yaesu FT-1500M as my base radios and an Icom V8000 in the mobile. Powering my base station is
an Astron SS-30M Power Supply. For portablility, I use a Yaesu VX5RS HT. For temporary power outages, my
base station is plugged into a UPS. My police scanner are: BC210XLT, BC100XLT, BC895XLT, BC245XLT, BC796d, BCD396t and BCD996t.
N9WP FACTS: I've had an Amateur Radio license since June 18th, 2002. I upgraded to my General ticket
less then a month later on July 6th, 2002. In 2003 I upgraded again to Extra then I retired my
old call (KC9BZN) and got my new vanity call sign of N9WP. So far, July 2006, I have made about 2000 QSO's into 111 different countries and all 50 States here in the USA. I'm also an active
severe weather spotter along with alot of the other HAM's in Boone county. I've been interested in
HAM radio since I was in High School and I've been a big police scanner listener for many years,
I met a good friend, my elmor, N9YI, and he pushed me into this great hobby at the age of 31.
If your interested in HAM radio, don't put it off like I did. Yes, your spouse or girlfriend might call you a
geek but it's fun. If your lucky, they may like it too like my wife. Take the plunge, you will never regret it!
73's and God bless from N9WP
